DIY Lip Scrub!

Hello dolls, I am super excited about this blog post today because I will be saving you tons of money!

We all know about those delicious lip scrubs you can get from companies like Lush, which will cost you about 10 dollars, give or take. (Plus more money for shipping if you order them online)
You don't get much bang for your buck, since the containers are usually fairly small.

But, I have a trick that will save you loads of money and time!
I'm pretty sure loads of other people do this, so I'm not calling this my ORIGINAL idea. It still works like a charm though.

You will need:
A pinch of granulated sugar
Vaseline (Or a lip balm works too)

This is so super simple I might as well not even explain how to do it. But I will anyway for the sake of my blog...xD

1. Cover your lips in your vaseline or lots of your lip balm.
2. Rub your sugar into your lips, gently in circular motions.
3. Lick it off, it tastes yummy! (or just wipe it off) I do both.
Be sure to apply lip balm afterwards, or your lips will be super dry!

And that's it! Say hello to smooth, soft, buttery, exfoliated lips!
Don't do this every day, it will damage your lips.
I do it every other day, or every two days.

XOXO,
Ashlee

March Music Picks

Hello ladies, I have started a new thing where I will list my favorite music of the month.
I think it'll be fun.
Just warning you though, most of my music taste is death metal.
I'm going to try to keep this limited to newer releases too, but I can't make any promises.
I'll be giving you my top 5 albums that I'm enjoying of the month, every month.

So lets get started!

1. Veil Of Maya - Eclipse Release date: February 28, 2012

I wasn't so sure about this album before I listened to it, seeing as their previous release, [Id], wasn't too amazing. But this, oh this...this is amazing. Everything about it is just fantastic. It blows my mind every time I play a track from it.
They did an amazing job on this work. Nothing disappoints me on this album.
I'm also loving that they added another instrumental, with the song "Eclipse." Metal instrumentals are the best.
Favorite track: 20/200 and Divide Paths

2. Carnifex - Until I Feel Nothing Release Date: October 24, 2011

This album is nothing short of spectacular. Carnifex brings brutal lyrics, "God, give me a mirror so I can watch myself choke." - Dead But Dreaming along with in-your-face musical parts (the guitars were my favorite part). Every track keeps me hooked, wanting to smash some faces.
Favorite Track: Until I Feel Nothing

3. Born Of Osiris - The Discovery Release Date: March 22, 2011

Seeing this band twice live really got me hooked on them. This album is my favorite out of the three they have. It flows amazingly, has some sick guitar solos, and has a great instrumental track, "XIV", which flows right into the next track, "Behold."
The artwork is just gorgeous. Probably one of my favorite album artworks of all time. I love how they took this artwork and animated it with their video to "Follow The Signs," which also could be one of my favorite music videos ever.
All in all, this album is golden.
Favorite Track: XIV & Behold

4. Chelsea Grin - My Damnation Release Date: July 19, 2011

This album is great. Lots of heavy breakdowns and crunchy riffs. This is what really got me into Chelsea Grin. I also LOVE the collab track "All Hail The Fallen King" with Phil Bozeman of Whitechapel. Couldn't be a more perfect match. Also, they added in an acoustic track, "Kharon," which ever so flawlessly flows into "My Damnation." Genius.
Favorite Track: All Hail The Fallen King

5. The Faceless - Planetary Duality Release Date: November 11, 2008

This album. What can I possibly say about this album to do it justice. I really don't know. It is THAT good. Yes, it is from 2008, but it is IMPOSSIBLE to play out this album. Or anything by The Faceless for that matter. They are amazing. I would highlight some tracks from this, but there is something special about all of them. "Planetary Duality I & II" has to be the most amazing song duo ever. My iTunes says that I've played them about 40 times. And this doesn't even count all of the other times I've played them on my phone, and on other music players before I went to iTunes. It just never gets old and always fascinates me. I can't wait for the new album to drop. It was SUPPOSED to drop last month, but we will see what happens now.
Favorite Tracks: Sons Of Belial

So that does it for my first March Music Picks. And I know I haven't posted anything on here beauty related in forever, so here is my most recent picture.

I also have some new beauty goodies to play with like the Urban Decay Book Of Shadows IV and the Maybelline Fit Me line.
That's all for now, I'll do more beauty things once my face decides to clear up.

Much love,
Ashlee

Dollar Store Gems, Lemon Grove Look

Hello everyone! It's been awhile! But, today I have an awesome find for you! This past weekend I went to Dollar Tree and raided the makeup section! I bought 6 L.A. Colors Trios for $1 each! Here is what I bought:

And here they are swatched:

They are surprisingly very bright and well pigmented! I'm really loving the L.A. Colors line, possibly more than E.L.F.! I get great things for just $1. Never had any regrets with this brand. I might do a series of looks with each of these trios, I love them so much!

Here is a look I did with the "Lemon Grove" trio.

How I did it:
1. Apply face powder/foundation/primer as usual.
2. Take the copperish shade and apply it to the crease, leaving the lid clean.
3. Take the yellow shade and apply it to the inner corner and over half of the lid, blending into the copper as you go.
4. Take the lime shade and apply it in the leftover space, blending with the other colors as you go.
5. When you finally get it how you want it, curl your lashes and add mascara. (I used Hard Candy Ginormous Lash Mascara)
6. Line your upper lid with liquid eyeliner. (I used Almay)
7. Finally, line your lower lash line with a black pencil. (I used E.L.F.)

Other things can be done to play this up even more, but this is all that I did for now. You can add a baby pink lip color, or a sheer gloss, or whatever your heart desires.

Have fun and pay those dollar stores a visit!

Red and Black

Hello everyone! I did this look yesterday while I was bored sitting in my room alone. I thought I would try something more dramatic since Halloween is just around the corner! Anyway, here's how I did it.

1. I applied face powder as usual and Urban Decay Primer Potion on my eyelids.
2. Using the Coastal Scents 88 Original Palette, I used the bright red and applied it from my inner corner to the middle of the lid. (With an eyeshadow applicator sponge)
3. Also from the same palette, I used the black and applied it on the other half, creating a sort of circular line with the shadow.
4. Using a firm eyeshadow blush, I blended the two colors together til satisfied.
5. I lined under my eye with ELF Brightening Eye Liner in black.
6. Curled my lashes and applied my mascara.
7. Applied L.A. Colors lipstick in Luscious Wine.

And that's all! Other things that can be added to this look are liquid eyeliner on top of the lid or red glitter on top of the red eyeshadow.

I think this look is a very dramatic look that can be worn either for Halloween as a vampire look, to a concert, or anywhere else you feel daring. As always if you try the look please show me a picture through twitter! (@iLoveKittie) I will be trying to post more blogs this coming week, but no promises because I do have school, and two tests coming up.

Have fun!
xoxo

EOTD: Cotton Candy!

Hello everyone, I am sharing an Eye of the Day that I just did! It came out super well and is very easy to do!
1. I started out by applying eye primer, which is a must!
2. Then I took the deepest pink from the Coastal Scents 88 Palette and applied it to my inner corner through the middle of my lid.
3. I stuck a piece of clear tape under my eye so I could get a clean straight line. Then I went to the deep sky blue shade that is two shades up and one shade right of the pink i just used and applied it to the rest of my lid and over the tape, creating a straight line by the corner of my eye.
4. I took both colors up as far as I wanted, up to my brow bone. Then took the teal shade at the very top of the palette and applied it in the inner corner of my eye.
5. I blended like crazy! I took the colors and rubbed them together, and took a small eyeshadow brush and brushed it back and forth over the line. I also highlighted my brow bone a bit by applying white shadow in the space between my shadow and my eyebrow.
6. I applied my black liquid eyeliner, a straight line on my lid and traced the line I made earlier with the blue shadow. I made the line as smooth as possible.
7. I applied a black pencil liner to my waterline, and applied mascara.

I hope these steps were easy enough to follow! If needed I can also make a video tutorial. This is a fun look to wear to parties or concerts. Have fun and if you try this be sure to share a picture with me. :)

XOXO,
Ashlee

Beauty On A Budget: Dollar Store Finds!

Hello everyone, and I have something special to share with you all today! You wouldn't think that you would find good quality makeup at the dollar store right? WRONG! I went to Family Dollar the other day and thought I would try out some things. They are all by L.A. Colors, which I am starting to like more and more! Anyway the first thing I purchased is this pressed powder.
The color I got is #BPP261, Nude. I'm really liking it too. It comes with a really crappy sponge, but I've found that using it to put the powder on my face then buffing it out with a powder brush works absolutely divine.
This only cost me $1.50. Which TOTALLY beats any other price I've ever seen. Definitely worth a shot.

The next purchase I made was this lipstick. It is still L.A. Colors (all of my purchases are) and the color is #BLC232, Luscious Wine. I only spent $1 on this lipstick, and it is absolutely gorgeous. (I'm wearing it in the top picture). I also provided a swatch for you in case you wanted to see it better.

My last purchase is this nail polish. It is from the Color Craze line in #BCC586, Lightning. Once again I only spent $1 on this! I have always been wanting a neon nail color, so when I saw this I grabbed it right away!
It applies wonderfully too! I didn't even need to use a top coat. At first it goes on really thin so be sure to use two coats! Being $1, I am going to be sure to try to pick up more colors from this line. Definitely a must.

Anyway I am planning on doing a video on this as well on my youtube channel, but I am going to wait until I get a few more products. And about the look I did at the top, do you think I should use it for my first tutorial? And if so, what should I call it? Let me know. :)

That's all I got for now, I hope I was of help to you!
Take care beauties, xoxo
